ilong Kong, Education Department. Assistant Kaster.
C.A. No. 494.
579
Thursday, 29th April, 1915.
for the names of the Committee and the candidates interviewed see the attached sheet.
ACOCK seemed to the Committee to be the most suitable candidate. He was a nice looking, gentle anly person, and though his teaching experience has been mainly confined to Preparatory Schools, he seemed likely to fill this post successfully. For reasons connected with the war he was doubtful whether he is a definite candidate for the post. The Committee decided that he should be recommended if he decided to stand for the appointment. He has, however, subsequently withdram his application.
HANDYSIDE was a Scotsman of a strong type, vigorous, energetic, and possessed of considerable character. He has good teaching experience and the Committee decided to recommend him for the post should Allcock not become a candidate.
KNIGHT van a good type of Elementary School Laster who would be useful for the Elementary Schools in Tiong heng. He was however nothing out of the ordinary, and his health appeared doubtful.
NICHOLSON was a Gael from Skye. He was not very
attractive and rather dull except as regards (isology on
which he is keen. He did not seem very suitable for the
post.
